As the fourth round of the British Design Fund comes to a close at the end of July we are delighted to welcome two experienced investors to its Investment Committee.
Meeting regularly to select the very best British purpose-led product design and manufacturing start- ups the Committee welcomes the breadth of experience and knowledge that our two new members bring.
Sir John Rose is an eminent British businessman who was formerly Chief Executive of Rolls Royce for fifteen years. Sir John remains active in business, has a particular interest in British engineering and manufacturing and is involved with a number of environmental technology
companies.
Sir John commented: “The British Design Fund is filling a much-needed space in supporting and working with early-stage British product businesses. They have already built up an impressive portfolio of investee companies and I look forward to bringing my perspective in helping to broaden that base.“
Will Hobhouse has had a hugely successful career in retailing and entrepreneurship with the likes of Tie Rack, Whittard of Chelsea and Heals. An experienced Chair and Director with a successful record of building profitable businesses and sustainable charities, Will is currently a passive investor in many start-ups and an active Chair and investor in hypergrowth companies.
Will commented “Britain is a brilliant place to do business and there are so many ideas which just need that early financial boost and some great advice and mentoring. I’m really looking forward to working with the team at the British Design Fund to do just that.”
The Fund has already invested in some eighteen enterprises and the close of the latest call for funding will allow for many new ventures to benefit.
